Guests can bring any pieces they would especially like to work on\, or you might choose from any of the following: \n\nThe Faber Music Christmas Piano Anthology\nTchaikovsky’s Nutcracker Suite for solo piano\nThe John Rutter Christmas Piano Album\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAs well as focussing on Christmas repertoire in performance classes\, a spotlight will also be given to Carols for choirs and Christmas songs you need up your sleeve in our two workshops. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nIn between the workshop and masterclass sessions there will be time for private practice on one of our beautiful grand pianos. During these sessions\, Beatrice will give one-to-one lessons on our new Steinway to provide individual pointers and tips. \n\n\nOn the Saturday evening\, we’ll enjoy some carols and Beatrice will round off the evening with some of her own favourites on the family Bosendorfer. This is the chance to sit back and simply be inspired\, glass of wine in hand by the fireside. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nGuests will: \n\nHave the chance to play in and observe two performance masterclasses.\nWill receive a one-to-one lesson with Beatrice.\nEnjoy access to play on our 9 grand pianos anytime between 7am and 8pm. DESCRIPTION:FREE ZOOM WORKSHOP WITH GRAHAM FITCH: PRACTISING TOOLS FOR ADVANCED PLAYERS \nThe art of practising is rarely taught\, and yet knowing exactly what to do in the day-to-day practice session is essential for pianistic progress. In this online workshop\, Graham Fitch demonstrates a variety of different ideas that will give you noticeable results. Among the topics he will be covering are: \n\nSolving technical problems by inventing exercises from the pieces themselves\nHow to deconstruct the score at the piano and reassemble it\nAdvanced deep learning techniques that facilitate memorisation\nHow to use visualisation and mental practice away from the keyboard (a secret of the great masters of the piano)\n\nThis course is provided by Finchcocks and is free to all Advanced piano players. SUMMARY:Jazz and Improvisation Weekend with Dr Mark Polishook
DESCRIPTION:The jazz workshop sessions that we run as part of our upper intermediate courses\, got such good reviews that we’re delighted to announce that we’ll be adding two weekend courses that focus exclusively on jazz and improvisation. \nDr Mark Polishook\, who hails from NYC\, is running both of our jazz courses and knows the international jazz scene like no-one else. Growing up in New York in the 1970s\, Mark’s interest in jazz led him to meet many of the jazz legends at a time when Louis Armstrong and Miles Davis were at the height of their fame. His inspiration as a teacher comes from the idea of of passing on the wisdom of the great players of the past to today’s aspiring jazz pianists\, and doing so in a way that is engaging\, accessible and inspiring. \n \nA lot of us grew up with system of ABRSM piano exams with a focus on classical and romantic composers\, and for many the world of jazz and improvisation is as mysterious as it is intriguing. Mark uses a combination of workshops and seminars to help pass on the wisdom of the jazz masters of the past to the jazz enthusiasts of the future. \nAs with all of our weekend courses\, there is plenty of time for private practice on one of our beautiful acoustic grand pianos.
