An evening with Heli Ignatius-Fleet: Playing the piano should be like a walk in a garden of delights – Sun 9 Jun 2019 5pm

We’re very pleased to continue our collaboration with the European Piano Teachers’ Association, by hosting their next quarterly seminar.

Heli Ignatius-Fleet is a the well-known pianist and pedagogue, and will provide a presentation on piano technique.

Heli is a pianist and a teacher with a wealth of experience; she delivers inspiring lessons for students ranging from beginners to diploma standard musicians. The piano is her passion- whether performing or teaching. Many of her younger pupils reach diploma level before they leave school. She provides regular performing opportunities for her pupils, including adults.

In Finland, at the Sibelius Academy, she studied for her Performers Diploma at Fellowship level, also completing a two-year Piano Pedagogy Module. Later she studied at The Royal Northern (formerly Manchester) College of Music. Her teachers have included Vlado Perlemuter and Gyorgy Sebok.

She has served as the Warden for the Incorporated Society of Musicians’ Private Teachers and was a long-standing member of the European Piano Teachers Association (EPTA) UK Management Committee. She was on the Editorial Board of the piano section of The Common Approach (Faber Music, 2002), and has published numerous articles in professional journals.

Heli was previously Director of the Piano Teachers’ Course UK. She is a popular piano course leader at the Benslow Music Trust, and is engaged in Masterclasses, Workshops, Adjudicating, and Lecture Recitals.
