During the courses, Assistant Course Director Helen is here to help you settle in and to ensure a smooth and organised running to the course.
Helen also enjoys a busy freelance career as a musician and teacher in London and the south-east. She graduated from the Royal Northern College of Music with a first-class honours degree in 2017. Helen sings regularly with the Choir of the Enlightenment, recently touring to Vienna to perform Handel’s Semele at the Musikverein. Last year she held a choral scholarship at St Martin-in-the-Fields in London. Helen also has a keen interest in exploring the Art Song repertoire, and recently, her recording of Schumann’s Mondnacht was broadcast on BBC Radio 3’s In tune, where she was described by Katie Derham as “one to watch”.
Here she is below, singing one of her songs in our recital room. I’m sure you’ll agree we’re very lucky to have her on the team!
Alongside performing, Helen loves teaching music in individual lessons and to groups of all ages. She teaches singing and piano at Brittens Music Centre in Tunbridge Wells and in London for MusicMaps agency and Fireworks Music School.
During the courses, Helen is here to help both musically and logistically. She enjoys getting to know the participants, helping them to get the most out of the weekend and often sings for guests on the Saturday recitals in the main hall. Helen enjoys escaping busy London life to the beautiful countryside setting of Finchcocks. She is proud to work on the courses, and excited to see how they’ve grown and developed so far.
