We are delighted to announce that as part of our collaboration with Broadwoods pianos, we are hosting a concert to celebrate the bicentenary of the delivery of one of Broadwood’s finest pianos to Beethoven.
Thomas Broadwood invited five highly acclaimed musicians of the time to help design the instrument, which was dispatched from London on 27 December 1817. It’s long journey over land and sea included transportation over the alps.
It reached Vienna some months later, much to Beethoven’s delight, who is reported to have said “I will regard it as an altar on which I will offer to god Apollo my most beautiful sacrifices of spirit”.
Paul Roberts will be performing pieces by Beethoven and Debussy, on one of our barless Broadwood grand pianos.
Tickets will be available shortly, advance booking is essential. Proceeds from the event will be donated to Help Musicians UK.
