    Directions

    to Finchcocks

    Trains

    45 mins from London

There are good train connections from London to Paddock Wood which is the nearest station. Trains leave Charing Cross, then pass through Waterloo East and London Bridge. Trains from London leave every 30 mins and take about 45 mins from London Bridge or about 54 mins from Charing Cross. Once you get to Paddock Wood, you’ll need to get a taxi to Finchcocks (nearest village is Goudhurst, but most of the taxi drivers know the house). Taxis cost about £22 and take 15 – 20 minutes. There are usually taxis available in the rank, but if you would like to book one in advance to be sure, we recommend Tim on 07745 529354 or Giresh on 07881 811805.

    Planes

    1 hour from Gatwick

For overseas visitors, the nearest airport is Gatwick which is about a 50 minute drive with good traffic. If you would like picking up, we recommend a very nice local driver Tim (07745 529354) who charges £60 from Gatwick, or car hire is available in the terminal. Trains from Gatwick are via London (Gatwick has a direct line into Victoria, then underground to Charing Cross). Heathrow is about about 1h 30 mins by car, £90 in Tim’s taxi (07745 529354) or by train to Paddington then underground to Charing Cross.

    Just off the A262

Driving to Finchcocks is relatively straightforward. If you put our postcode TN17 1HH into google maps, that takes you straight to the door. Older Sat Navs aren’t so accurate. The best route is via the A21, then take the turning onto the A262 in the direction of Goudhurst. After about two miles (just before you get to Goudhurst), turn right just before the Green Cross Inn pub – there are several signposts here for Finchcocks. Continue along the private drive for a mile and before long you’ll see the manor house. Turn in the side entrance and park in front of the Coach House.

    Have you heard of

    Eastwood Observatory?

For anyone interested in self catering accommodation for large groups, we recommend our sister property, Eastwood Observatory in East Sussex. With 12 double bedrooms, each with an ensuite bathroom, Eastwood can accommodate large family groups or host corporate retreats. It also has a heated swimming pool, tennis court and over 30 acres to explore. No pianos there yet, but watch this space!
