This course is designed for anyone between grade 3 and grade 7, and will be run over a 5 day period.

This course is being run by David Hall (FRCO, MA Cantab), who is one of our most popular tutors at Finchcocks, and was recently described by the Sunday Times when they joined us on a Finchcocks piano course, as a “musical powerhouse”.

Dave’s 5 day course is designed to be rounded, immersive, inspiring, and most of all fun.

The formal sessions will include a combination of masterclasses that help develop performance skills, workshops that help develop technique and individual tuition.

The workshop sessions will cover practice and performance techniques, accompanying – with a little concert at the end of the day – jazz and improvisation for classical pianists, as well as more broader input across the week on sightreading, pedalling and applied harmony. We’ll also run a few duet sessions.

As usual, everyone will have access to their own grand piano for the week including our new Steinway, and have plenty of time to practice in our vaulted recital rooms.

We’ll also have a bit of fun! In addition to a private recital in the hall of the main house or on our open-air stage, weather permitting, we’ll explore the private gardens at Finchcocks, be able to soak up the Kentish countryside with walks to Scotney castle, experience a local wine tasting and visit the original Finchcocks museum Burnett Collection now homed in Tunbridge Wells.
