Upper Intermediate Weekend with David Hall – SOLD OUT

23 March 2018 @ 7:00 pm - 25 March 2018 @ 5:00 pm
  • This event has passed.

We all want to play more notes more accurately more of the time. David will talk you through some tried and trusted practice techniques to improve accuracy and fluency of your playing. He’ll also run a masterclass session focused on performance which will examine ways to bring your music to life by searching for the song, dance or story within which involves a little bit of (very relaxed) performance in front of your classmates.

On Saturday evening, David will give a pre-dinner lecture / recital in the main house, which is a chance to relax and be inspired, before returning to the Coach House for dinner. David’s “Whistlestop tour of the piano” talks through the history of the piano and its repertoire with performances from each period of music history. This session consistently gets rave reviews from our students.

At some point over the weekend, we’ll run a duet session. David will allocate pairs, and this is a chance to boost your confidence when performing by dividing the nerves by two!

In between David’s sessions, there is time for private practice on one of our beautiful acoustic grand pianos and Dave will drop in regularly to see how you are getting on. We have a large range of music available to borrow during the courses, and its a lot of fun to rummage through and test out your sight reading.

This course is designed for people who have reached a good (grade 4 – 8) standard, but might well be a bit rusty. For anyone who doesn’t have access to a piano, you’re welcome to come a bit earlier on Friday and dust off the cobwebs before everyone else arrives.

This course is being run by David Hall (FRCO, MA Cantab).
