Two concerts – one day! Finchcocks Fundraiser concerts

As a number of Finchcocks Fans noticed, our summer fundraiser festival sadly couldn’t take place this year. We are very excited, however, to announce a solution to this – with an autumnal one instead!

This year’s musical fundraiser for the Finchcocks Scholarship Scheme takes place in the form of two concerts in one day – both with inimitable concert pianist and Finchcocks tutor Florian Mitrea.

Taking place on Sunday 22 November, the first concert begins at 3pm and with the second starting at 7pm.

Afternoon concert: 3pm

Moonlight & starlight: Beethoven & Chopin offers a beautiful selection of well-known and loved classics, welcoming the shorter days of autumn with its deep starry skies and dramatic shifts in nature and weather.

The programme will include:

* Beethoven “Moonlight” Sonata in C# minor Op.27 No.2
* Mozart 12 Variations on Twinkle twinkle little star (“Ah vous dirai-je, Maman”) K.265/300e
* Debussy Clair de Lune from Suite Bergamasque

INTERVAL

* Chopin Nocturne in C# minor Op.27 No.1
* Chopin 3 Concert Etudes (3 Nouvelles études) ‘Revolutionary’, ‘Harps’ & ‘Ocean’ B.130/ KK IIb/3

With an afternoon tea included in the ticket price, it’s set to be a perfect afternoon!

Evening concert: 7pm

The second concert will be held at 7pm and is entitled: Alchemy: The Liszt Sonata

A programme centred on the tonality of ‘B’, Florian takes the audience on a breathtaking musical journey to its final destination of one of Liszt’s most important works. Published at the end of his life, witness the peak of “The Devil’s Pianist’s” artistry at its finest in this single-movement masterpiece.

The programme will include:

* Chopin Scherzo No.1 in B minor Op.20
* Chopin “Tuberose” Nocturne in B major Op.62, No.1
* Liszt Ballade in B minor No.2 in B minor S.171

INTERVAL

* Liszt Sonata in B minor S.178

A glass of wine or a soft drink is included in the ticket price, for a truly unforgetable evening.

All profits from the concerts will go to our Scholarship Scheme, which provides access to piano education for those aged 11-18 who might not otherwise be able to receive it.

We hope to see you there!
