It’s statistically proven that our adult lives are busier than ever, and finding the time and space to practise can be a real challenge. A weekend at Finchcocks promises a safehaven from day to day stresses – a real ‘retreat’ feel!

Three words could sum up our experience: sophisticated, elegant and stimulating! John & Hilary

Musicianship; theory help, sightreading, improvisation, interpretation

Even if you have lessons weekly, there may be specific aspects you are struggling with – do not fear! By the end of our weekend, you will have acquired a toolkit of essential skills, through our foolproof combination of one-to-one and group sessions.

Playing with others

Learning the piano can be a solitary experience, and what better way to meet like minded piano lovers who share your enthusiasm. You might even discover some new music! Many of our participants have made friends for life.

Relaxed atmosphere

Our weekends are the perfect platform to trial grade pieces or just to break the ice and play with/ in front of others. Finchcocks is the ideal place to explore performance and have fun with the music.

One-to-one tuition

Dave Hall, our Musical Director, will check that you are developing a good technique and will fill in any gaps in your knowledge of basic notation. Dave is well used to working with Grades 0 – 2 level; he has 20 years’ experience working in schools and with students of all ages.

As a total piano novice, my wife treated me to a beginner course at Finchcocks. The tutor (Dave) was brilliant. Perfect balance of being professional, but also very down to earth with a sense of humour. Chris

Did we mention the food?

Often locally sourced and cooked by our in-house chef. Participants frequently express this as a highlight, and in particular the effort made to cater to all dietary requirements.

A word from our Musical Director, David Hall:

“At beginner level, there is so much to explore; so much to learn and so much fun ahead! At Finchcocks, you will have a grand piano for practice throughout the weekend. Most importantly, and unlike most piano beginners, you will have company.”
