2019 – Why Finchcocks?

2019 – Why Finchcocks?

Our participants and tutors share their Top 10 Reasons why Finchcocks should be your course of choice this year…

1. World class tutors

Our tutors are all professional musicians and teachers, in demand across the UK and abroad. Our esteemed list of tutors includes: Graham Fitch, Melanie Spanswick and David Hall.

“David Hall is an excellent tutor and an inspirational presence” Philippa – Intermediate course

 2. Intimacy of a small group

With 1 to 1 lessons and workshops in groups of between 6-8, you will experience direct contact time with the course tutor, without the pressure of performing in front of a larger group.

3. The History

Constructed in 1725 by Edward Bathurst, Finchcocks is a Georgian manor house in Goudhurst. From a ballet school to a piano museum, Finchcocks has certainly seen its fair share of history. Read more about the history of Finchcocks.

4. Location

Set in the idyllic Kent countryside and only a stone’s throw away from National Trust’s Scotney Castle, a weekend at Finchcocks promises fantastic scenery, and is the perfect setting to relax and focus for a weekend course.

5. The food

Let’s face it, this is a priority. Locally sourced and expertly cooked by our in-house chef, you won’t be disappointed.

6. Performance is at the heart of our courses

“The highlight for me was the concert in the main hall on Saturday evening.” Ben – Intermediate course

Relax and gain confidence in playing in front of others. On the second night, the course tutor performs a recital to participants – a popular feature of our courses.

7. Luxury accommodation…

…in our newly renovated 18th century coach house. Expect beautiful views and period charm.

8. Atmosphere

Welcoming, friendly and relaxed. “The amazing house with the crackling log fire, and beautiful piano… was a truly priceless experience that I never expect to forget.” Ben – Lower Intermediate course

9. All abilities welcome

From early Beginner to Advanced and Diploma level, there is a piano course for you. Courses for teachers and composer themed courses are also available.

10. The pianos!

Our top highlight. From the traditional Yamaha grand to the Bosendorfer, Finchcocks houses nine different grand pianos. You will have your very own grand piano for the weekend!
